Natural Coloured Sapphires

Blue Sapphires

The most commonly known sapphires are Blue Sapphires. While they are found in various hues ranging from light pale blue to rich royal blue, the most sought after and prized colour is the vivid, velvety blue, in medium to medium-dark tones.

For a sapphire to be called true blue, its secondary colours must not account for more than 15% of the stone's overall colour. These secondary colours are always green and purple. Sapphires that display secondary colours greater than 15% are classified as greenish-blue, purple-blue, and violet, and are seen as unique or fancy coloured stones.

Robert selects medium quality stones, up to the vivid, velvety blue for all the pieces he sells in-store, giving a broader price range to meet all customers' budgets.

Padparadscha Sapphires

When Robert recommends or shows Padparadscha Sapphires, clients have almost never heard of or seen these stones before. Most jewellery stores do not sell pieces with these stones due to their rarity, however Robert specializes in these beautiful sapphires that range in colours from salmon tones with a pinkish hue, to those with an orange glow. Robert handpicks and sources these rare gems from locations around the world, predominantly Sri Lanka.

"Padparadscha Sapphires are simply stunning. My customers are often speechless at their colour, and relish in the fact that they are wearing such a rare and one-of-a-kind stone."

The remaining categories for fancy coloured sapphires are pink and purple, orange and yellow, green, and white. Each of these colour categories has its own extensive range. Robert sells any coloured sapphire customers would like, though pinks, yellows, and greens are the most popular. Many clients of Robert are shocked to know that these natural sapphires are  found in such an abundance of colour variations. "Blue typically seems to have been the most popular, due to its marketing and the quantity of stones available". But for the last 5 years, Robert has been sourcing and purchasing these incredible colored sapphires for clients and his own handmade pieces. He feels that the light variations of color mixed with unique designs allows him to produce some of the most incredible pieces of jewellery he has ever made.
